When is Qatar Sports Day?

Qatar sports day is a public holiday in Qatar and is celebrated annually on the second Tuesday in February.

The main objective of the upcoming holiday is to promote a healthy lifestyle and active lifestyle within Qatar’s population.

Qatar Sports Day Brief History

Every year on the second Tuesday of February, an annual sports day is observed by all citizens in Qatar designated by The Emiri Decree No. 80 of 2011. The state would like to encourage everyone to think of creative ways to get into shape and work on their physical fitness with family and friends

The first National Sports Day in Qatar was designated for sporting activities and was celebrated in 2012.

Sports day aimed to promote sports and educate people on how to minimize health risks, such as heart disease and diabetes.

Government and private organizations often organize hundreds of different events and sports for employees and their clients. Notably, the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH), Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), and Aspire Zone all play a key role at various sporting events in Qatar.

National Sports Day Activities

There are so many activities on Qatar national sports day, from football to swimming, so even if you have a favorite sport you can find something else that stretches your limits! It’s all free and it’s all for everyone.

The day is also seen as an opportunity to bring communities closer together through sport, based on the sporting principles of team building, inclusion, unity, participation, fitness, and health.

Along with the different sporting events happening across the country, National Sports Day also focuses on the traditional Al Shawahef rowing championships. It’s a great reminder of Qatar’s ancient heritage and the part it has played in making us who we are today.

It is now well-known that sports activities can be beneficial to health. There are a number of benefits that come from taking part in sports and physical activity.

Qatar is one of the few countries with a sports day.
