How to register in Qatar for your 3rd dose vaccine booster shot?

Due to worries about waning immunity as a result of the global dissemination of the new variant – Omicron – booster doses of COVID-19 vaccinations have been rolled out in most countries.

The variants appear to be extremely contagious and capable of reducing vaccination effectiveness.

The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) in Qatar has begun distributing Covid booster doses to citizens in an effort to protect them from the more transmissible form and maintain high immunity levels.

Who are eligible for 3rd dose vaccine in Qatar?

3rd dose vaccine registration in Qatar must obtain first before you can get the booster dose.

All persons who have already got their second immunization dosage at least 6 months ago are now eligible for a booster dose.

All eligible individuals who want to keep their Ehteraz Gold Vaccinated Status should have their booster shot as soon as possible, but no later than 9 months after their second shot.

Those who received their second dose more than 9 months ago will lose their immunization status (Gold Frame) on Ehteraz starting February 1, 2022.

Individuals who use most public facilities, such as restaurants, hypermarkets, and malls must have the golden status.

After receiving the second dosage, people who wish to travel to foreign countries should get their booster shot.

Those who have been vaccinated elsewhere will receive a booster dose of one of the two licensed vaccines in Qatar (Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna).

The Ministry of Public Health in Qatar has now approved Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 booster dosages for children aged 12 to 15.

Children who had their second dose more than 6 months ago are now eligible for booster immunization shots at their local primary health care centers.

Why 3rd dose vaccine is very important for your health?

Booster doses have become even more important with the discovery of omicron.

According to research, three vaccine doses — the two preliminary shots plus a booster — may assist to increase protection against a novel variation like omicron.

“The latest scientific evidence suggests that Covid vaccine protection starts to wane after eight months,” said Qatar’s MOPH vaccination chief, Dr. Al Bayat.

She also stated that  “everyone currently invited to get the booster is considered to have a higher risk of developing complications if they catch the virus because of their age or health status.”
